Application of RFID Tags in Factory Parts Management

In the production systems of factories such as machinery manufacturing and auto parts, the accurate management of parts directly affects production efficiency and product quality. The traditional barcode scanning mode is easily contaminated and damaged, and requires close-range operation, which is difficult to meet the efficient management needs of large quantities of parts. The introduction of RFID technology has completely changed this situation. In the production requisition and traceability management, RFID technology realizes the whole-process visualization. Production line workers can complete the requisition registration by scanning the part tags with a handheld reader-writer, and the system automatically updates the inventory data; if a batch of parts has quality problems, the traceability function through the tags can lock the circulation path, use station and associated products of the problematic parts within 5 minutes, greatly shortening the recall processing time. Data from an auto parts factory shows that after introducing this system, the part misdelivery rate has dropped from 3.2% to 0.1%, and the quality traceability efficiency has increased by 90%.
The improvement of inventory management efficiency is also remarkable. In the past, the monthly inventory check required a team of 5 people to work for 3 days. Now, with the cooperation of RFID handheld devices supplier and fixed reading and writing points, one person can complete the full warehouse inventory in one day, with an accuracy rate of 100%. In addition, RFID tag manufacturers have also added high and low temperature resistance and impact resistance functions to the tags, enabling them to adapt to special scenarios such as welding workshops and storage cold storages. With the advancement of Industry 4.0, RFID on metal tags will also be deeply integrated with MES systems to realize intelligent prediction and dynamic scheduling of part demand.
