RFID Tags Powering Smart Traffic Management Upgrade

Against the backdrop of accelerated urbanization and a surge in motor vehicle ownership, traditional traffic management models face pain points such as low efficiency and difficult control. With its characteristics of high-speed identification and strong environmental adaptability, RFID technology has become a core support for intelligent transportation construction. Specialized tags developed by RFID tag manufacturers for traffic scenarios, such as RFID License Plate Tag and UHF windshield tags, have been deeply integrated into the entire chain of vehicle control, parking management, and public transportation scheduling, promoting the transformation of traffic management towards precision and intelligence.
Vehicle identification and dynamic control are core application scenarios. The tags can accurately identify vehicle information at speeds up to 250 km/h, and complete data transmission within 4 seconds. These electronic tags optimized by RFID tag manufacturers integrate digital information such as license plates and driving licenses, and can still work stably even in severe weather such as heavy rain and smog, collecting more than 42 million vehicle data per day, which provided key support for tracking key vehicles during the epidemic. The motor vehicle environmental protection card implemented in Yinchuan is also a typical application of RFID tags, which not only realizes exhaust emission monitoring, but also assists in violation traceability and vehicle anti-theft.
The application effects in intelligent parking and public transportation scheduling are remarkable. In parking lot management, vehicles with built-in RFID windshield tags can realize "non-stop access". The reader can complete identification within 80 meters, and the barrier gate opens automatically, which is 8 times more efficient than the traditional card swiping mode. In the public transportation system, the combination of RFID technology and GPS can collect real-time data such as vehicle arrival and departure times and locations. The scheduling center can dynamically adjust the departure frequency based on this. The intelligent public transportation system in Suzhou has achieved a stop announcement accuracy rate of 95% with this technology, greatly improving the travel experience.
Technological optimization and cost control have promoted large-scale applications. Through material improvement, RFID tag manufacturers have made tags waterproof, lightning-proof and impact-resistant, and some products can have a service life of up to 30 years. At the same time, the unit price of UHF tags continues to drop, reducing the threshold for the implementation of urban-level projects. In the future, with the integration of 5G technology, RFID tags will further link intelligent signal lights and route guidance systems to realize coordinated control of "vehicle-road-people" and build a more efficient intelligent transportation ecosystem.
